3d Resin Printer – Elegoo Mars 2 Pro Mono
12.9 x 8.0 x 16.0 cm / 5.1 x 3.1 x 6.3 inch print size.
This is the 3d printer we recommend. We have one. When buying, the most important thing among current offerings is ‘mono.’ It’s faster than the older color print light-sources (screens). The mono is faster than the older color ones. The other thing that is important is print size. Pick the size you need.
2k, 4k, 8k, there is a difference in resolution, but it’s very tiny, and those higher resolutions mean a slower print.
There is a Mars3. The big difference there is the Mars3 is 4k, which for our use was not necessary (because the quality difference didn’t seem very different) or wanted (4k is slower).

This does not come with a magnetic build plate. If you don’t have one, it will be difficult to remove prints, and you’ll break a lot of them trying to chip them off the inflexible plate. You can buy flexible plates. There’s no installation. It’s just a sticker base which fixes to the printer, and a flexible metal plate to stick to it.
Extra resin tanks are not necessary. You can pour the leftover back into your bottles. But you might want them if you regularly use more than one color.
Finally, if you’re not super careful you might spill resin on the light-source (screen), and it might seep in and ruin the screen (design flaw that could be improved by the company). In that case, you’ll have to replace the screen (you can unscrew the machine and swap the screen out in 15 minutes) (however, the design of the case could also be improved to allow easier and cleaner disassembly for repairs).
One final thing, the Z-rod may stop spinning. The fix can just be needing grease. Be careful it doesn’t drip too much into the case (design flaw allows this to happen, and could be improved).
If you want a bigger build surface (24.64 x 24.38 x 12.19 cm / 9.6 x 7.8 x 4.8 inches) and 6k, they have a Mono X 6k.
And even bigger (29.72 x 16.51 x 16.13 cm / 11.7 x 6.5 x 11.81 inch), the Photon M3 Max (7k).
